Municipal Facilities to Close due to Provincial Announcement and Rising Covid Cases
Town of Minto to Close Municipal Facilities due to Provincial Announcement and Rising Covid Concerns
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JANUARY 04, 2021
TOWN OF MINTO, ON - The Town of Minto continues to keep public safety as top priority during the unique circumstances surrounding COVID-19. As the cases in our area remain high, due in large part to the very contagious Omicron variant, the Town of Minto remains committed to safeguarding the health, wellbeing, and safety of our employees.
Yesterday, the Province of Ontario announced that they will be moving into a modified stage 2 closure. In accordance with this new mandate from the Province, as of 12:01am on Wednesday January 5th, 2022, all Recreation Facilities, Museums and Theatres in the Town of Minto will now be closed until Wednesday January 26th, 2022. To keep the community and our staff safe, we will continue with the full closure of all Administrative Buildings until January 31st, 2022.
Essential services such as fire, water, wastewater, road maintenance and minimal building services will be the only departments with staff remaining at the municipal office. The rest of the municipal staff are being required to work from home as per the provincial directive. Residents are still urged to call the municipal office, follow the appropriate phone prompts and leave a voicemail. Staff will return voicemails when possible. If residents know the email address of the person they need to reach; electronic communication is encouraged.
The Town of Minto reminds the public to continue to wear a mask and wash hands regularly. Get vaccinated or boosted when possible. It is critical that everyone continues to follow these measures to keep our great community safe. Minto is a resilient community and will get through this unusual time stronger together.
Individuals who have questions or concerns regarding COVID-19 should contact Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health at 1-800-265-7293 or visit www.wdgpublichealth.ca/coronavirus.
The Town of Minto wishes to thank the public for their ongoing understanding during this unique circumstance.
