Vaccination Requirements for Town of Minto Facilities
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 21, 2021
TOWN OF MINTO - The Town of Minto continues to keep public safety as top priority during the unique circumstances surrounding COVID-19 and remains committed to safeguarding the health, wellbeing, and safety of our employees as well as our residents.
The Government of Ontario recently announced “As of September 22, 2021, Ontarians will need to be fully vaccinated (two doses plus 14 days) and provide their proof of vaccination along with photo ID to access certain public settings and facilities. This approach focuses on higher-risk indoor public settings where face coverings cannot always be worn”. The Town of Minto will be following all guidelines set out by the Government of Ontario.
These guidelines will apply to the following facilities within the Town of Minto:
• Clifford Arena and Clifford Community Hall
• Harriston-Minto Community Complex
• Norgan Theatre
• Palmerston & District Community Centre
• Various Other Recreational Facilities
Certain exemptions from these requirements apply including those who cannot receive the vaccine due to medical exemptions, those under 12, and those who are under 18 years of age, and who are entering the recreation facility used for sports and recreational fitness activities solely for the purpose of actively participating in an organized sport.
The Ministry of Health’s Proof of Vaccination Guidance for Businesses and Organizations under the Reopening Ontario Act sets out baseline requirements that specified businesses and organizations must comply with in accordance with section 2.1 of Schedule 1 of O Reg. 364/20. It does not preclude businesses or organizations, including governing sports associations, from establishing their own additional policies or requirements pertaining to their patrons.
The Town of Minto will be creating a document that outlines facility use and expectations of renters and staff.
