Ontario to Enter Province-Wide Lockdown on December 26th
ONTARIO TO ENTER PROVINCE-WIDE LOCKDOWN ON DECEMBER 26TH
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DECEMBER 22, 2020
TOWN OF MINTO, ON - The Town of Minto continues to keep public safety as top priority during the unique circumstances surrounding COVID-19. As the numbers continue to climb, the Town of Minto remains devoted to ensuring all safety measures are followed, to protect our staff and the public.
Following yesterday’s announcement of a province-wide lockdown, the Town of Minto will be closing all municipal buildings to the public as of December 24th 2020 at 5:00PM. All arenas will be closed until January 24th at the earliest, but recreation staff will continue to monitor the facilities and the ice plants to ensure that maintenance be kept up and that the ice surfaces remain viable so that community organizations can return as soon as restrictions can be lifted. The Norgan Theatre will remain closed to the public until January 24th, 2021.
LaunchIt Minto will also be closing for the duration of the lockdown, however the Town of Minto Economic Development Department and Minto Chamber of Commerce are here to support our local businesses through this challenging time. Many programs are currently being offered through the various levels of government. Reach out any time if you require assistance navigating these programs or needing any other support. Please feel free to contact Business & Economic Manager Belinda Wick-Graham at belinda@town.minto.on.ca or Business Development Coordinator Somer Antonopoulos at info@launchitminto.com.
The Town of Minto municipal building will be closed from noon on December 24th, 2020 and will resume regular working hours on January 4th, 2021. The municipal office will continue to operate as it has been, limiting the number of staff who are permitted to be in the building at one time. Those who need to visit the Town of Minto office are required to make appointments with the staff they need to speak with, and we are encouraging all bill payments to be made either electronically or through the drop box located at the office. As always, staff will be continuing to work from various alternate locations, with access to emails and voicemail. If you need to get ahold of staff, please call the Town of Minto at 519.338.2511 and follow the prompts to reach the appropriate voicemail. Electronic communication is encouraged, and all staff contact information can be found on our website at town.minto.on.ca/contact-us.
Individuals who have questions or concerns regarding COVID-19 should contact Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health at 1-800-265-7293 or visit www.wdgpublichealth.ca/coronavirus.
The Town of Minto wishes to thank the public for their ongoing understanding during this unique circumstance.
