Full Time Deputy-Treasurer
The Town of Minto is recruiting a talented financial professional interested in joining the team as a full-time Deputy Treasurer. We are looking for a strategic thinker with a passion to work in the public sector. The successful candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and judgment in addition to technical ability.
Reporting to the Treasurer/Deputy CAO, the position will be responsible for providing analysis and reporting to other departments, Council, regulatory bodies as well as working closely with the rest of the Finance and administrative team.
The position encompasses a wide variety of financial duties including assisting the Treasurer with budget and financial statement preparation, year-end working papers and audit liaison, cash flow forecasting, grant applications along with compliance and reporting, document control and improving and maintaining tangible capital asset systems and plans. In addition to regular analysis of revenues and expenses, the position will be required to assist with project management and special presentations and participate in municipal initiatives.
The ideal candidate has a Post-Secondary Degree, a Chartered Professional Accountant Designation complemented with a minimum of five years’ work experience in a municipal or not-for-profit environment. Familiarity with Keystone/USTI or similar financial software and Citywide Asset Management modules is considered an asset, in addition to a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office. It is hoped that the successful candidate will be interested in taking on more responsibilities and complement the succession plan for the finance department.
