Minto's fifth and sixth Mayor, George Bridge is following in the footsteps of his father Milton, Harriston Reeve for 12 years and Wellington County Warden, as well as his Grandfather George who served on Palmerston Council for over 30 years with 15 years as Reeve.

Born and raised in Minto, a Norwell District Secondary School graduate, George attended Ryerson Polytechnical Institute. After 30 years with TD Canada Trust, he retired as Branch Manager in Midland and moved back to Harriston. George has always been heavily involved in the community in which he lived and was the General Manager of the Barrie Agricultural Society and Event Centre for 3 years, Chair of the Elmira BIA, Master of the Masonic Lodge, President of the Hanover Rotary Club, and President of the Barrie Agricultural Society. He currently lives outside of Harriston with his wife Sue and son Aaron. His daughter Amy and husband Grant own Grant's Service Centre in Palmerston and have three children; Ella, Quinn and Evvy. His other daughter Carrie and husband Colin live in California with their twin children Piper and Emmett. George's mother Florence Bridge still lives in Palmerston.

Deputy Mayor Ron Faulkner is a retired Inspector from the Ontario Provincial Police which includes 25 years in management. His training includes; budget management, Human Resources management, and strategic planning.

He is proudly married 42 years to Anne-Marie with three children, two of which reside in Minto. He has been a Minto resident for 36 years and has held various leadership roles in community groups including Clerk of Sessions for the Harriston United Church, President of Harriston-Minto Minor Sports, legion and curling club. He believes in the Town of Minto and wishes to do his part to make the Town of Minto, the community of choice.

Councillor AndersonCouncillor Jean Anderson

Councillor Anderson has been a resident of Minto for over 25 years, she and her husband David have raised four sons in Minto, 2 of their 5 grandchildren also reside in Minto. They currently enjoy country life on a small hobby farm just outside of Palmerston.

Jean's Career in Healthcare has covered a broad spectrum , including acute care in local hospitals, long term care including owning and operating her own Home for the Aged, a management position for 10 years in our local hospitals and currently in Dialysis at the Palmerston hospital and Emergency Nursing at Groves Hospital in Fergus. Jean earned her post RN BScN in 2006, and currently holds the CNA certification in both Nephrology nursing and Emergency nursing. Jean is new to the political arena, other than her involvement in a political action Group called the Nursing Shortage and YOU Committee which has been involved in raising awareness of the nursing shortage and lobbying the Ontario government to increase the number of nurses in the healthcare system. She is looking forward to becoming more informed and involved in politics and the operations of the Town of Minto and is eager to serve her community in this new role.

Councillor ColwellCouncillor Mary Lou Colwell

Coucillor Colwell was born and raised in Waterloo and moved to Minto (Harriston) in 1992 to accept a job as controller with Wightman Telecom. She and her husband Allen are the proud parents of five children and two grandchildren.

Mary Lou's professional career has been in accounting and includes owning her own bookkeeping business, working for a major accounting firm and as a company controller. Currently she works part-time at C&M Seeds as an assistant controller.

Councillor Colwell enjoys living and working in Minto and has been on the Minto Chamber of Commerce executive for over ten years. She has also been on the executive of The Royal Canadian Legion and as a member of several Town of Minto committees including Strategic Planning.

Councillor Colwell is enjoying her second term as Councillor and is looking forward to serving in this role once again.

Councillor Dirksen has lived in Minto all her life and has been a member of Municipal Council for a total of 13 years, most recently as Deputy Mayor for the 2007-2010 Term.

As a Council member, Judy has served on many committees in the past including the Clifford Housing Corporation, the Ausable-Bayfield Maitland Valley Source Water Protection Project, and served as the municipal representative on the North Wellington Health Care Board for four years. In 2003 she chaired the Agricultural Tour Committee in conjunction with the Harriston 125 & Minto 5th Celebrations. In 2007 she co-chaired the Township of Minto 150th Celebrations and organized the church service for that event as well. In 2009 Judy was a driving force behind the Minto 10th Anniversary Celebrations. Judy and her husband Dick have owned and operated their family farm between Harriston and Teviotdale for over 35 years where the focus has been on cattle, crops and custom work services. They are the proud parents of three adult children, two daughter-in-laws and 7 grandchildren. All but their daughter Lisa live right here in Minto as do Judy’s parents. Along with her duties on the farm, Judy is a long time volunteer in the community, in local schools and in her church. She feels it is important for people involved in agriculture to tell their story and did that in a formal way for ten years as Wellington County’s Dairy Educator. Currently Judy is the President of the Ontario Veal Association, the Vice Chair of the Agricultural Adaptation Council and the Vice Chair of the Business Risk Management Review Committee. She recently served as the Chair of Presidents’ Council for three years. The Dirksen Family attends the Palmerston Evangelical Missionary Church where Judy currently serves on the Christian Education Committee, is the Secretary of the Worship & Music Committee, leads a Praise and Worship Team and organizes the Children’s Christmas Concert Program. Judy is looking forward to working with the new Council and Minto Staff of the Town of Minto and serving the residents of the Town of Minto.

Councillor Ron Elliott is a former Mayor of the Town of Minto, Mayor of Palmerston and Palmerston Councillor having over 14 years in municipal politics.

A former Governor and now active member of the Lion's Club, Ron has worked tirelessly on the Palmerston Lions Park and other community needs. Formerly employed by the Midwestern Regional Centre, Ron and his wife Elaine have resided in Palmerston for over 42 years and have two daughters Sherry and Rhonda. Ron also serves on the Norgan Theatre Board and Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. Having spent most of his life as a player, coach, official and executive member in hockey, softball and other local sports, Ron continues to umpire with Softball Ontario and help with coaching his granddaughter's softball team.

Councillor Turton is in his third term as councillor of the Town of Minto. He has lived in Minto all of his life and was raised as the second youngest child in a family of 10.

David and his wife Pam are very proud parents of three children; Brooks, Jessica and Paige. Brooks lives in Guelph and has worked hard to receive his P.Eng/MBA. Their daughter Jessica is a teacher with Upper Grand District School Board and lives in Palmerston with her husband Tim Meulensteen. Their daughter Paige attends the University of Western Ontario and is currently in her third year of her Science Degree.

Councillor Turton is a long time employee at Rothsay, Maple Leaf Foods as the Maintenance Manager/Chief Engineer. He also has two trade tickets; First Class Power Engineer and Millwright. Councillor Turton also has his Green Belt in Six Sigma which is a business management strategy.

Presently David is an Elder/Trustee with the Harriston United Church, President of the Palmerston Marlin's Ladies PWSA Association, member of K-40 Club and Member of Harriston Masonic Lodge. He is also the Past President of the Harriston Kinsmen Club and K-40 Club and is a past member of school council. Over the past 25 years, Councillor Turton has coached minor baseball and hockey.

David Anderson has been a lifelong resident of Minto, currently residing on a small hobby farm near Palmerston with his wife Jean. They have raised their family of four boys in Minto and two of their five grandchildren, currently reside in Palmerston. 

He has been involved in local politics for sixteen years; twelve as a Councillor within Minto and four years as the Mayor. He is currently a Director on the North Wellington Health Care Board and he volunteers as a Team Captain at the Norgan Theatre in Palmerston. He manages and operates The Service Ontario office in Harriston, assisting people with Licensing issues and Health Cards in this region for over thirty years. He is passionate about his family, his farm friends, golf, and the community he lives in.  Combining these passions with his love of politics, David is looking forward to representing the citizens of Minto at Wellington County Council for the next four years.
