The 2022 Municipal Election will occur on Monday October 24, 2022.

April 21, 2022 - Candidate Information Workshop

The Clerk’s of Wellington County are organizing a joint Candidate Information Session at the Wellington County Museum and Archives Aboyne Hall.

April 22, 2022 - Candidate Packages

The Clerk’s Department will endeavour to have candidate packages ready.

May 2, 2022- Nomination and Registration Periods Begin

Candidates who register with the Clerk will be provided a Candidate Package, including a certificate of the applicable interim maximum amount of expenses. Candidates can start incurring expenses once the certificate has been issued.

August 19, 2022 - Nomination Day

On Nomination Day, nominations may only be filed between 9:00AM and 2:00PM.

August 19, 2022 - Withdrawal Deadline

A candidate who wishes to withdraw their nomination must notify the clerk in writing before 2:00PM.

August 22, 2022 - Clerk Certifies List of Candidates

All nominations to be examined and certified by 4:00PM and declare the candidate(s) elected by acclamation.

September 1, 2022 - Voter’s List Reproduction and Revision Period Begins

Last day for reproducing the voters’ list and determining the revision procedures. On written request, the Clerk shall provide copies of the voters’ list to those referred to under subsection 23(3) of the Municipal Elections Act. On written request, the Clerk shall provide candidates with a copy of the part of the voters’ list that contains the names of the electors who are entitled to vote for that office. From September 1 until the close of voting on voting day (October 24), a person may submit an application to have their name added to or removed from the voters’ list, or to have their information on the voters’ list amended. From September 1 until the close of voting on voting day (October 24), a person may submit an application requesting that a deceased person’s name be removed from the voters’ list.

September 12, 2022 - Election Signs Erected

No person shall place an Election Sign, or cause an Election Sign to be placed on any premises until after the issuance of writs for provincial or federal elections, or within six weeks immediately preceding a municipal election.

September 15, 2022 - Interim List of Changes to the Voters’ List

The Clerk shall prepare and distribute an interim list of the changes to voters’ list that were approved on or before September 15.

September 26, 2022 - Ballots are Mailed Out to Eligible Electors

Ballots will be mailed out to all eligible electors within the Town of Minto. These kits will consist of a ballot, a secrecy envelope, a declaration, and a return envelope. Electors are able to vote as soon as they receive this kit.

October 6, 2022 - Ballot Drop Off Clifford Community Hall

Come out to the Clifford Community Hall between 4:00 & 8:00 p.m. to have your name added to the Voters' List or to drop off your ballot. Staff will be on site and can provide Voters Kits to new registrants.

October 11, 2022 - Ballot Drop Off Harriston Arena Auditorium

Come out to the Harriston Arena Auditorium between 4:00 & 8:00 p.m. to have your name added to the Voters' List or to drop off your ballot. Staff will be on site and can provide Voters Kits to new registrants.

October 12, 2022 - Ballot Drop Off Palmerston Arena Auditorium

Come out to the Palmerston Arena Auditorium between 4:00 & 8:00 p.m. to have your name added to the Voters' List or to drop off your ballot. Staff will be on site and can provide Voters Kits to new registrants.

October 13, 2022 - Last Day to Mail In Ballot

This is the last possible day for electors to mail their ballot back to the municipality, to be counted on Voting Day. Ballots mailed after this date are not guaranteed to arrive back at the municipal office in time to be counted on Voting Day.

October 17, 2022 - Ballot Drop Off Palmerston Arena Auditorium

Come out to the Palmerston Arena Auditorium between 4:00 & 8:00 p.m. to have your name added to the Voters' List or to drop off your ballot. Staff will be on site and can provide Voters Kits to new registrants.

October 20, 2022 - Ballot Drop Off Clifford Arena Lobby

Come out to the Clifford Arena between 4:00 & 8:00 p.m. to have your name added to the Voters' List or to drop off your ballot. Staff will be on site and can provide Voters Kits to new registrants.

October 24, 2022 - Voting Day

The Ballot Return Station located at the municipal office will be open from 8:30AM to 8:00PM when voting closes. The results of the election will be calculated and released to the public as soon as possible after 8:00PM.

November 15, 2022 - New Term of Council Begins

The Inaugural Council Meeting will be held at the Norgan Theatre in Palmerston. The incumbent council will take their oath of office, and be sworn in.
