Swim Lessons

Both the Harriston Pool and Palmerston Pool offer Red Cross swimming lessons.  There are four public sessions that run for two weeks throughout the aquatic season as well as private lessons that range from 5-10 sessions in length.

Swim Team

The Minto Minnows Swim Team is a great way to improve your fitness level, build endurance, learn new skills and correct your strokes. Each participant is encouraged to strive for his/her personal best. Participants will also have the opportunity to compete in some friendly competition in swim meets held at various aquatic facilities throughout the area. Members must be able to swim one length of the pool (25m). For more information on the 2017 season, a Swim Team Newsletter will be available by March 1st.

Junior Lifeguard Club

This program provides children with the opportunity to learn lifesaving/ lifeguarding skills (blowing a whistle, throwing assists, stroke correction, etc.). Participants will be working on water training for friendly competitions and personal bests. The Junior Lifeguard Club builds self-esteem, confidence and friendships. It is serious fun!

Bronze Star

The Bronze Star award is the pre-Bronze Medallion training standard and it provides excellent preparation for success in obtaining the Bronze Medallion award. In Bronze Star, participants develop problem-solving and decision-making skills as individuals and as partners.

Bronze Medallion and Emergency First Aid with CPR B

This program teaches fitness, judgement skills and techniques for water rescue. If you are interested in becoming a lifeguard, Bronze Medallion is your first step towards achieving that goal. Canadian Lifesaving Manual, awards, exam fees and HST are included in the course price.

Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid with CPR C

Candidates will learn the difference between lifeguarding vs. lifesaving, the principles of emergency procedures, teamwork and spinal injury management techniques.  Bronze Cross is the final prerequisite to NLS and Lifesaving Society leadership levels. Canadian First Aid Manual, exam fees and HST are included in the course price.

Aqua Fit

This multi-level non-impact class is great for everyone and is a full body workout.  The class is led by an instructor and conducted in both the shallow and deep water.  Aqua Fit is appropriate for all levels of fitness and allows you to work at your own pace with little impact.

Aqua Boot Camp

This is a great way to jump start your healthy lifestyle with an intense fitness training on land and in the pool! This program is targeted for ages 14+, you will experience core training, endurance training and muscular fitness, through programs such as Aqua Kickboxing, Water Running, Aqua Abs, Aqua Muscle and Aqua Yoga, as well as on land endurance training.
